Walking beside you through illness, healing, dying and loss

Walking beside you through life's most uncertain seasons.

Life can change in a single conversation. A diagnosis, a death, a divorce, an accident, a family crisis or an unexpected turn of events can suddenly make the future feel unfamiliar. Grief takes many forms. We grieve people, relationships, health, dreams, identities and the lives we thought we would have.

Whether you are facing illness, loss, separation, dying, divorce or a profound life transition, you do not have to navigate it alone.

I walk beside individuals and families with calm, clarity and compassion, helping you make sense of what is happening, find your way through the practicalities, and have the difficult conversations when they matter most.

We cannot always change what is happening. But we can change how we journey through it.

A Different Kind of Companion

Most people don’t know what they need when life suddenly changes.

It might be a death, a divorce, a diagnosis, a family crisis, a difficult transition, or simply a moment when everything feels too much. Sometimes you need someone to help you make sense of what’s happening. Sometimes you need practical guidance, help navigating difficult conversations, or simply someone calm beside you when you don’t know what to do next.

My role is not to replace doctors, therapists, lawyers. It is to walk beside you, to bring calm to the chaos, clarity when things feel overwhelming, and compassionate support when you need it most.

Whatever you are going through, please don’t carry it alone.

Hello, I am Rachel Smith

For more than 20 years, I have supported people through change, crisis, grief and life’s most difficult transitions.

I know how disorienting it can feel when the life you knew suddenly changes, when emotions are raw, decisions feel impossible and you simply don’t know what to do next. My strength is bringing calm to the chaos. I listen, create space, help people navigate difficult conversations and bring clarity to situations that can feel overwhelming.

My understanding of grief and transition is both professional and deeply personal. I have experienced divorce, raised two children through challenging times, supported families through conflict and change, and walked alongside people facing illness, loss and profound uncertainty. Caring for my father around the clock through his final year with cancer, and losing my brother to suicide, have also profoundly shaped my understanding of grief, family and what it means to truly be there for someone when life falls apart.

These experiences have taught me that grief is not just about death. We grieve relationships, health, family, identity, dreams and the lives we thought we would have. Sometimes what we need most is not another expert, but a calm, trusted person beside us who can help us find our way.

That is what I offer.

Whether you are facing illness, caring for someone you love, navigating divorce or separation, living with loss, dealing with family conflict, or simply trying to find your way through a profound change, I walk beside you with compassion, clarity and steadiness.

From the first difficult conversation through whatever comes next, you don't have to carry it alone.

Life Transitions

When life changes and you don't know what comes next.

Some life changes are chosen; others arrive without warning. Illness, divorce, family upheaval, recovery, retirement or a major change in circumstances can leave you feeling unsteady and overwhelmed. I walk beside you through the uncertainty, helping you find clarity, make decisions and navigate what comes next.

End of Life

When someone is dying and you need support through it.

Facing death can bring fear, uncertainty and an enormous amount to hold, emotionally, practically and within a family. I support individuals and families before, during and after death, helping you navigate the conversations, decisions and many practicalities that arise. My role is to bring calm, compassion and steadiness to a profoundly difficult time.

Family & Difficult Conversations

When things are difficult between the people who matter most.

When emotions are high, even the people we love can struggle to hear one another. I create a safe, neutral space for difficult conversations, helping families express what matters, listen differently and find a way forward. Whether you are navigating conflict, divorce, caregiving, loss or long-standing family tensions, you don't have to do it alone.

"Rachel has a rare ability to be fully present without taking over. She is quietly attentive, deeply intuitive, and unobtrusively holding us all. She has this sense of calm that creates immediate trust and genuine human connection."

Testimonials

- Losing my husband -

After my husband died by suicide, I could not bring myself to walk back into our room. Every space felt unbearable, and I didn’t know how I would ever be able to enter that space again. Rachel came alongside me gently, without judgement or expectation. Through guided visualisations and mediation, Rachel helped me slowly reconnect with the house and with my memories of my husband. Together we created a small memory table with photographs and things that reminded me of him. We lit candles, shared stories and allowed the space to hold both the pain and the love. It was such a simple thing, but it changed the way I experienced the house. Rachel didn’t try to take away my grief. She helped me find a way to live alongside it in those moments.

- Separated after 20 years -

I met Rachel a week after my husband and I separated after 20 years. The separation had been a long time coming, and it marked a very clear end to a long journey. It was real. It was big. It was a painful and tender time. Rachel welcomed me into her space with such warmth and I immediately felt safe and held. She was not there to be my therapist, my advisor, to dig into past traumas. She was there in sisterhood, as wise woman, as a conduit for process and discovery ~ Who am I now? What do I do now?  Rachel gently and tenderly tuned into where I was at and, over the sessions that followed, supported me towards finding a path that would begin to answer these questions; while fully acknowledging the constant change and growth of life and that there is no one size fits all, no ‘right’ way to be and experience this human journey. Rachel helped me to listen more deeply to my heart; to dream into my desires, hopes, wishes, but also to find intention and clarity. No topic is off the table.  Looking back on those times I spent with her, I see how much stronger I have become, in myself, in who I am.

- Rachel's absolute open heartedness -

What I love is Rachel’s absolute open heartedness; her ability to support through tenderness, through humour, through anything that is true in the moment, at such an open and fragile time she had my back, for as long as I needed.

- Mother became seriously ill -

When my mother became seriously ill, our family was overwhelmed. There were so many decisions to make, difficult conversations to have and emotions that none of us knew how to navigate. Rachel became a calm and compassionate presence in the middle of it all. She helped us communicate when we were struggling to hear one another, created space for each of us to express what we were feeling, and gently guided us towards what mattered most. Her ability to sit with uncertainty, sadness and even silence made an enormous difference. She gave us the confidence to stop trying to fix everything and simply be present.

- Incredibly wise and deeply empathetic -

Incredibly wise and deeply empathetic, Rachel brings enormous, selfless love and incredible listening skills to the spaces she holds. Her power lies in her profound connection to her intuition and sensing exactly what people need as they navigate difficult life journeys. Never intrusive or directive, the support she offers is consistently mindful and well informed.
